Frequently asked questions

  • Can I sell if I am a cottage food seller?

Yes. The Roadstand supports cottage food sellers. Cottage food sellers must follow the rules that apply in their state and only list products they are allowed to sell.

  • Can licensed businesses sell too?

Yes. Licensed food businesses and small-batch local producers can use The Roadstand with broader product and fulfillment options based on their license and business setup.

  • Can Florida growers sell fresh produce?

Yes. Florida growers may use the Fresh Produce Grower path for qualifying fruits, vegetables, leafy greens, herbs, and microgreens that they grow themselves. Pickup and local delivery are available; shipping is not available on this path at launch.

  • Do I have to offer delivery?

No. You choose the fulfillment methods that work for your business: pickup, local delivery, shipping, or only some of those options.

  • What happens if I cannot fulfill an order?

You can reject the order before payment is captured. The customer payment hold is released, and inventory is not decremented.

  • What is BYOC?

BYOC means Bring Your Own Customer. You can share your seller referral link with customers you already have. When eligible customers sign up through your link, your platform commission can be waived on future orders from those customers.

  • Does The Roadstand give legal advice?

No. The Roadstand provides educational resources and marketplace tools. Sellers are responsible for confirming that their products, labels, licenses, and fulfillment methods comply with applicable laws.

  • How do payouts work?

Customers pay online through Stripe Checkout, and seller payments are handled through Stripe Connect. Stripe processing fees are deducted from seller proceeds.
